Cheers Simba, could have sworn I checked all the links were working when I submitted it - oh well, it was early in the morning!

Not 100% on the exact location of the cinema, except that the original entrance was on Butterbiggins Rd, apparently, and this became the side entrance after a new one was tacked onto the end.

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi? ... nright.y=5

That map (assuming it works) shows it's further along from Eglinton Toll. I don't know the area too well but I was interested to find out that there was a cinema there in the past.

As a rough rule of thumb, point randomly at a map of Glasgow and there will have been a cinema there in the past at some point!

Couple of B&W pics of Eglinton Toll Odeon when open at the Odeon Cavalcade site:

The toll cinema was where a Petrol Garage is now (Closed for obligatory luxury flats to be built). It was right next to the Samaritan Hospital for Women(again now luxury flats)
Where the music stinks, and they water the drinks, ...at the nudie bar

Excellent pics. I see there is a fence surrounding the former kingsway (? )cinema at Cathcart road at the clockwork pub. Is this the next to go?

The one at the end of brand street is fenced off again and a Whiteinch Demolition sign outside

There is a night watchman on it... I'm going to find out what company it is... if its a certain one, I'm going in ;)

Probably, but its a long story!
There's been a fence up for about a year since the owners tried to get it demolished as a dangerous building. Council said no. There's a planning application in to demolish it and put flats on the site and park behind; has been being considered for about 18 months now. Council have recently served a repairs notice on the owners (AS Homes); no sign yet of them actually acting on it.
The place is B-listed; you can see what it looks like inside nowadays here:

Scheduled for demolition at present are the Capitol/Bombay in Ibrox and the Olympia in Bridgeton.
Interior pics of the latter are also here:

..cheers for the info mate. Just remembered there was an attempt to bulldoze another one, off of Cathcart road, was it at Bankhall street? Near the penny farthing? (sorry, my geography is decided by public houses!) Im sure they were trying to get planning permission last year, any updates?

That would be the Govanhill Picture Palace in Bankhall St -- no news as yet on the application to demolish; the council is pretending not to be getting our emails about it... I will be posting on here if there is any news about the place...

The Regal/ABC in Hamilton is also away this weekend. Pictures of destruction here. I missed the actual demolition of the facade, I think they did it on Saturday.

Full history & pics of the interior just prior to demolition here:
