What about doing something down Merchant City way, like a quick tour past buildings of note that still exist..............is there any?

Or if there is enough folk out, split into two or more groups and do some sort of mini history quiz trail with the general idea that we all end up in the same place? Frequenting some of Glasgow's older notable pubs on the way of course. :)

I suppose it might take a bit of organising and the city might be too busy to do it on a Friday night, maybe an idea for a different night or for future months? :?

Only an idea.....any thoughts?

At this point the Forums go quiet as all the closet Rangers and Celtic fans sit glued to their TV's.

except me, who has an inaptitude to enjoy footie. Good idea on the pub trail, but on a friday nite, places will be knocking back people in large groups. Especially in Merchant city. But i like the location, Anyone got a favourite haunt down that way that is decent enough for a group meet?

Tourist Information have a cracking 12 page booklet on the Merchant City, its entitled "The Obscure History" which offers a double tour option, you can either follow the trail to 30 places of historic interest or visit the 26 Plaques dotted around the area, if don't have a copy, get one! (and its free!)

I`ve been to Shawfield a few times and have never managed to get a taxi home. If it finishes reasonably sharply you can brave the walk to Dalmarnock train station - The quickest way to the city centre after a few beers

There is a bus stop outside and at least 2 buses that run into the town.

Personally, I'll have my handsome stead parked outside, ready to whisk me home or to work depending on the time.

Hmm... about time ya'll got a look at my trusty machine
