Anyway i'm in Blairdardie, people around here like to pretend we're in Knightswood

My 2nd favourite thread (past and present if yer wondering). I grew up in the high flat at Lilyburn during 70's early 80's and went to Cleddans up the hill next to the water tower (still remember my mate telling me that tower was haunted - I was sh!ttin' myself for years!). Would love to see more pics or clips if anyone has got any.

We in Knightswood KNOW its Blairdumpy. . Until you folk learn to put BREED in the Bread bin then you cannot gain entry.

as naebody got picture of Bresslin falling out of the tree - always seemed to be doing that in the venchy or the cute wee concretes train ye could get up to loads in its boiler

Anybody know when that Drumchapel gas explosion was ? About 1978-9 or thereabouts ?
I'm pretty sure it happen on a Saturday morning as I was sitting on the floor watching the kids telly programmes at the time

Was it not before then? I don't remember it being after I had left the Drum in 1975.

I moved from Drumchapel in 1981 I lived in Katewell Ave and my Granparents lived in lillyburn till 1984

£200m new dawn for Drumchapel begins

ONE of Glasgow's most ambitious house building projects - a £200million scheme to transform Drumchapel - is under way.

A total of 1250 family homes will be built over the next five years in the largest project of its kind in Scotland.

Developers New City Vision will build on 124 acres across eight brownfield sites with the aim of rejuvenating a historically rundown area of the city.

The Drumchapel New Neighbourhood Initiative, revealed by the Evening Times in April, will represent a significant milestone in the regeneration of the area.

The three houses to the right & centre of HH's 1910 photo above. Nice to see them still there, and looking healthy, surrounded by 1950's stuff. The other two houses are also still there, but I forgot to get a photo.

Wow, I spent a lot of my childhood in Firdon Crescent! The third house up is my gran's - she and her son still live there. Gorgeous crescent and all the tennis balls you could ever want, landing in yer garden! She'll love to see the old painting of her house!

Is it a hand coloured job? S'cuse my ignorance, was just tickled to see it. Sent it to my mum and she wanted to know if she could get a copy to give to my gran. Wonder where it exists in the real world?
