The Drumchapel village post office building is still there, but with a few new bits built on each side.
A WWII bomb landed just up the road from there, it knocked out the windows of the PO, and blew down the end wall of the church (Not the little Parish church in the photo above. That later became a bakery, and a Radio Rentals workshop )

Yep, it's now called the 10'O Clock shop, a general grocers/newsagent/off licence. The post office bit has been squeezed down to a small desk inside.
Amazing how much survives from that old photo, the roof line is just the same, but extensions have been built out from each side, with a bookies at the North end.
It's on Garscadden Road, just up from Drumchapel station (about 3 streets away from me ).

Seeing as HH linked to this thread, I thought i'd add this photo of how the old Post Office building looks today.

(No real reason to post this photo, but i'm bored, and can't sleep)

The three houses to the right & centre of HH's 1910 photo above. Nice to see them still there, and looking healthy, surrounded by 1950's stuff. The other two houses are also still there, but I forgot to get a photo.

Did the houses in Achamore go so near to the water tower? I thought the tower was always a bit away, across a field. Maybe memory playing tricks cos that is how is theses days and I have only recently been up that way again after 20 + years.

If you went to number 90-odd Achamore, you can still see the water tower up that path from where the actor is walking down.

Walking up that path would take you to Kells Place & Kerfield Place to the left as you walk up it.

Brilliant stills Clincher i'll have to get hold of that DVD.

At the expense of being branded an anorak, the photo on page one showing the cars parked at the shops cannot be from 1958. Three cars from the foreground is a Ford Anglia 105E which was not launched until October 1959.

I have several glittery Goodyear stickers that I was given when the factory closed down. 79/80?.

My point was in the still,it looks as if the water tower is almost in the back gardens, only a few feet away. But there is a field where it stands between it and the houses, even today.

Glittery stickers ? How did you come by them ? As a child of a Goodyear employee I insist you explain so I can moan to my dear old dad that we wos robbed

Given to me by a - now- long dead relative, so no chance of an explanation there. You're welcome to the stickers, though - they have been cluttering up the inside sleeve of a favourite lp for twenty-five years now.

I mind being in those flats a few years back with my mum. she had a lot up there (housing wummin)
