Can anyone get this to work as advertised?

I can zoom 'roon the toon like a drunk pigeon no probs but all the buildings are just grey boxes. The photo-realistic rendering with 5mm detail as advertised in the report just doesn't happen!

Same here. This is all I'm getting when I zoom into the Central Hotel:

Looks like some paper mache thing I did at primary school.

I met some of the people involved in this project a few months ago.

Essentially there is two models. The one you see on the internet (grey boxes) and a highly detailed photorealistic model.

The high detail model needs a number of high end graphics machines working together to produce the images that have been posted on the BBC and GCC websites. I very much doubt you will ever see the high end model streaming over the internet.

I was quite disappointed with the internet model. I would have thought they could of at least created something similar to what can be achieved with Google Earth e.g. textured buildings etc.

Thanks for this, Scooby.

I thought it would've been too good to be true. I can't see what use there is in releasing a shitty grey box version, while advertising that it's a revolutionary, high-spec visual treat.

Looks more like the city mock-up Doc Brown used in Back to the Future.

My virtual demolition team are very interested. They'd like to know if they can go in and blow them to smithereens without getting asbestos everywhere. :)

PS: Isn't there another long tall thin one up 'round the corner?
