Hi all, I'm a newbie so go easy on me.

I worked in Govan Shipbuilders which is just down the road from the Lyceum up until 1987. Now and then we held mass meetings here which were always very entertaining. I remember the place had a slightly damp foostie smell which was quickly overcome by the thick blue fog from several hundred workers puffing away whilst the business in hand was discussed.
One colorful character, a steelworker nicknamed 'the talking horse' always made a point of speaking at these meetings generally giving the shop stewards a right hard time to the delight of his workmates who I'm sure wound this guy up into a frenzy. Pretty sure the Lyceum was a bingo hall at this time.
Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.

The Talking Horse .. now there was a character. I remember his tirades well.
I like him ... He says "Okie Dokie!"

HiMori, great stuff, I will need to get down to Govan for a few still shots for my cinema and Govan collection
Great news about the cinema hope it takes off
Not too many Suburban cinemas left
I was lucky enough to get access to take photos of the reopened Cinema in Leven last year, as step back in time to the old time cinemas

Grosvenor, Springfield Quay, The Forge and and Imax.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

Hi Dexter St Clair, the only one of those cinemas I count as suburban, is the Grovsenor, really I was talking of the stand alone cinemas, not the multi plexes, how many of the old cinemas have been demolished and can never reopen
Having said that anything is better than nothing

If any of the four of them are suburban, urban Glasgow must have shrunk to the size of a walnut.

No reference to other websites remotely intended in that comment, btw
