Edwyn Collins Seriously Ill

Postby KonstantinL » Thu Feb 24, 2005 10:26 pm

From NME:

EDWYN COLLINS SERIOUSLY ILL

EDWYN COLLINS is seriously ill in hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

The singer and guitarist was taken ill on Sunday night (February 20) and doctors are currently trying to stabilise his condition.

A statement from his management reads: “Edwyn Collins suffered a cerebral haemorrhage on Sunday night and has been in hospital since, where doctors are trying to stabilise his condition.

“As soon as we will have more information we will let you know.”

Collins fronted Orange Juice – the art rock combo who have been a major influence on many of today’s bands – from 1976 to 1985. He went on to enjoy solo success in 1995 with ‘A Girl Like You’.

His most recent project was as producer on the debut album from Little Barrie.

Scary news. I hope he pulls through OK. Alot of the reasons Glasgow is a cool place is down to this man. I for one will be taking a little wander down West Princes Street of Dreams this weekend.

Get well soon Edwyn.

When he spoke She smiled in all the right places.
In her smile he saw the poison she tasted.

She wasn't listening to the sweet words,
He wasn't listening to the lying tongue.
He was listening to words being sung.
That little blueboy.

Get well soon son.

He's on tonight's edition of Home for the Holidays on STV. Filmed, obviously, before his illness. Apparently being shown with his family's blessing.

Hi, I'm very new to the site and have been enjoying looking through the various topics and threads.

As there hasn't been an update for some time, I thought those of you who have been concerned about Edwyn would like to to know that he has been home for a quite a while now and is making good progress.
