Pinkston Power Station

Postby Rabbie » Tue Feb 22, 2005 3:33 pm

Looking for any info on when the now demolished <sept 76> cooling tower that existed at site of Pinkston Power Station was origanally erected. Piccies would be a bonus too!

There are pictures that show it existed in 1955, I have an inking it was post war, otherwise the Luftwaffa would have been crashing into it *:)*

I have had a good trawl though the usual archives, like scran, mitchell lib, but have as yet not came up trumps with a definative answer as to a date when this was built

Maybe, the answer lies here... <fingers crossed>

Cheers

By 1957 Pinkston was providing electricity for the city's trolley buses, as well as trams, and was contributing 17 million units of electricity to the national grid.
