It's a rather lovely Citroën DS that the plate is on. No wonder the bloke on the number 28 trap is gawping, it must have seemed like a spaceship in those days

Hydrau-pneumatic suspension is spot on for traversing cobbled streets too!

Lord Provost's car was G 0. Have pic from 1980, but no scanner at moment.

Last I heard of the LP's car was some years ago when the council decided it was a liability as it seemed to break down every time they they brought it out, so they retired it as they didn't think they cold justify the cost of keeping it on the road.

Haven't seen it for ages. I'd imagine they retained the number, as it would reach 6 figures at auction with its history.

Now I know why I couldn't place the street I'd seen it in last.

Photo of a photo, but shows G 0 complete with flag outside the Albany banqueting hall in 1980.

The Normal School was a teacher training facility. It was also used for special activities such as computer science before the subject was introduced into schools. When I was in 1st / 2nd year St Columba's in Hopehill Road, we were introduced to computer programming and attended half day classes once a month at the Normal School.
