Did anyone see Franz Ferdinand before they made it big?

Never heard of the band until they made it famous. I guess they must have played Art School, Jonny Wilkes and all that crew. Be curious to know?

the singer was in the amphetimeanies for a while. I saw them a couple of times.
Is this gonna be a standup fight, sir, or another bughunt?

I saw a lot of Alex's previous band, the Karelia (nee the Blisters) which to be honest I still prefer over Franz Ferdinand.

Stinkpad.

Wilkes? because he is art school to the very end. Could see him possibly plugging Franz Ferdinand. Love Optimo though!

Is that the one they put out with Urusei Yatsura or the Beetroot one from the 13th Note?

Saw them back in April at the QMU, don't suppose that could be conceived as before they made it, but i suppose it was before they started playing the SECC!
I like the whole concept of the 'Chateau' which they were involved in, taking disused buildings and using them for gigs and art shows. Very HG in ethos. Only sorry i never made it to any of those shows.
I see dead buildings...

Hi Dazza, Well when I first heard Franz Ferdinand I thought they had a kind of 'Optimo' sound, don't know how you define that, miminalisitic??? When I heard they came from Glasgow and Alex was a former art school student, then it all started making sense. I love Optimo, don't get the chance to go much nowadays as I don't live in Glasgow, however sometimes do when down the road.......if you wanna ride, ride the white horse...........Anyway, I won't be going at New Year, however would still like to get my hands on CD they give out. Got 2 from previous years.

I would say to anyone who hasn't been to go, especially if they like house. Always felt that Twitch and Wilkes( the dj's) make an incredible effort with the music, as well as the decor.

Do you go Dazza?

The Fall are infinitely better than any lookback bores or notebook-out plagiarist.

Excellent, that has been a long time coming. I take it you like soulwax too? Kinda similar, I wonder about this record they are releasing, if it will be like '2 many dj's' stuff?
