My pal says there's an old hospital in Parkhead that's been shut for a while that should be interesting to photograph.

Does anyone know which one this is?

That would most likely be Belvadere ... which actually isn't all that amazing to photograph:? Oh and has security. With dogs.

The dog is a sweet-heart as myself and Duncan found out when first meeting it.

The security gaurd was OK too - just escorted us off site with the dog.

We could not find an entrance anyways.

I wouldn't have thought there was anything to explore there, I've often looked at in recent times and thought it was an opportunity missed. The hospital proper was demolished after it was closed, and the site is practically flat, apart from a few large houses to the west end of the site, which look derelict.

But, I could be wrong.

If I recall correctly, the west end near the houses has tree cover, so approaching from west or south would be difficult to spot, and those side are bounded by industrial or housing areas. Both are kind of sparse.

Watch for the mad Gatso on London Road, just before the main entrance. Whenever I spend any time there, it just take a flakey every now and then and starts flashing whether or not there's traffic about. Nice to know they're reliable.

By 'houses' you mean 'Hospital', right ? The 'Houses' are the only listed part of the hospital that remain.

Also, it's not really an opportinuty lost as Myself Sharon and Duncan have been all over this site in depth.

No, not really. I had the misfortune to have family end up in there, and the hospital to me was the sprawl of buildings that covered the site, and network of roads that ran around it. I don't know what the function of the 'buildings that look like houses' was, but when you visited the wards, patients or surgical areas, you never went anywhere near them.

Saved me asking a question though, I was sure I'd seen mention that there had been a visit to the site by someone.

Is any of it posted anywhere?

Those 'houses' ARE the hospital. They were built first, remain today and are in fact the hospital - the wards were a later edition. This you can tell because they are not around today - they missed the listing by a wide margin.

There is no type up anywhere that I'm aware off - we have a few pics but all pretty boring I'm afriad!
