I don't know what damage the fire did but the demolition continues as of Saturday afternoon.

Acording to a man in the know, there was'nt mutch of anything to catch fire left, and it was mainly pallets and debris that caught light. Structuraly it's still the same, and it caused no adverse afect with regards to it mabye collapsing.

Demolition

They're using burners to cut up the beams and frame. I noticed some smoldering bits this afternoon. Maybe recovering copper.

Nice snaps Nodrog. Is it just me though, or are they hanging this out? Seems to be taking a bloody age to come down? If indeed they are salvaging copper, surely could have been quicker? Or mabye there are asbestoss issues?

Glad it's almost gone. Just a matter of taking the debris away now. Hopefully it'll just be carted away, and not put through one of those bloody machines that turns large chunks of concrete into rubble. That takes ages.

Still eager to see what'll happen with regards to the railway lines when construction starts though?

Any idea what the replacement building will look like?

That part of Finnieston is pretty dreadful and needs a revamp. Hopefully some tasteful architecture will rise from the ashes.

Was I the only one who thought the original building was like an Alcatraz watchtower?

Great description there TC :D

This part of Finnieston is indeed in need of some architectural insperation, although I predict another glass and metal monstrosity that seem to be sprouting up all over our city. Seemingly the basement is to be a new resteraunt and shopping facility with flats on top. If I manage to get a hold of any designes I'll get them posted up.

Started in there doing security last weekend. No resteraunt, but a Tesco is going in on the ground floor. Houses starting from £160k, and they are pokey let me tell you, and that's just with the jip rock up.

Great views facing the Clyde though, from the top, need to get a new camera, as my phone just would'nt do them justice.
