Mansfield Street Poltergeist

Postby Blueboy » Tue Sep 21, 2004 8:56 pm

What with Haloween not too far away, I thought it was time to get spooky. Does anyone remember reading an article in the Evening Times about a flat in Mansfield street, Partrick which was eventually condemmed due to several families suffering supernatural weirdness? I think it all happened in the 60s, but the story was retold fairly recently.

Does anyone know how I'd go about getting access to this place to conduct an investigation?

taken from the link above.

I live in the US, but I have a friend who lives on in Glasgow named Siobhan who says she has a problem with seeing ghosts, and has been able to since she was 5 (she's 12 now). Anyway, back when she was 6 years old and living on Earl Street, she says she was attacked by a male ghost, who appeared to be in his 30s, which started choking her. She said he had brown hair and sharp green eyes. She said that she broke free from his grip and ran, but he began to chase after her. I guess he faded out after a while; She didn't say what happened after he started chasing her. And if it's important to anyone, she said he was chasing after her on foot, not floating in the air.

dunno about you but that sounds kinda suspect to me....

Sounds more like someone attacked her. Doesn't mean it was a ghost.

Also, if you want to know if the building's still there - consult a medium... :D

Sorry, but in the words of a man from the 1800s, I'm a rational man. A man of science, and I have no time for this flim-flammery. I will have no truck with the shenanigans of spooks, goblins and ghoulies.

Now, away with you Sir, or I shall be forced to resort to the fine rules as written down by that fine gentleman the Marquis of Queensberry.

Good day sir!

Doc, I realised you are very closed minded based on your last couple of messages in response to my comments.
However if everyone was like this then we would still be living in the 1800's.
Scientists must have an open mind and research this phenomenon much like they have everything else.
This is my goal, I have the scientific gadgets and want to get more to aid us in thie.
This depends on funding/money situation to be able to help offer proof in this field.
I realise how you personally feel about this, but this does not make me any different from the next person, some beleive some don't.
Just like religeon etc some people put their faith Catholicism and others in a different faith. It does not mean that one is right and one is wrong though.
To cap it off i'm not as ignorant as to dismiss you as you were me in your previous post, this falls under one of my pet hates, so what if you don't believe or refuse the possibility of this phenomenon.
You and I are just another statistic in the spreadsheet of life :>

Some good points LW, well made.

I'm sure the Doc was not having a pop at you however, he was just having a laugh.

I have seen first hand your scientific methods and procedures and can vouch for their science..ness!

I wasn't having a pop at you personally. I'm just incredibly sceptical about this sort of stuff and find it very hard to believe in it.

I just thought I'd answer in the manner of some Victorian duffer. Sorry if it came across wrong.
