Building & Printing

I studied Design for Print for 3 years there - got my HND there.

Totally loved being there though. :)

And as for the lifts - I remember the old ones used to open halfway between floors. I swear I had to climb out of them a few times!

When I went back to do night classes in Web design, they had these cool models of police boxes (tardis) at the ground floor. Can anyone remember these?

We were either on the eighth or ninth floor I think - and yes - great view. I used to go to the canteen at the top floor too - it was always very warm up there!
Ehhh... cool. Whatever you say, I'm sorry. You're the man. The dude in the chair.

Had a close look at the glass elevator in GOMA today.

There are no passive mechanical restraints on the car, only signalling devices, but there is a tiny pair of wimpy buffers at the bottom of the shaft.

Other than that, the only visible transport controls are two beefy hydraulic hoses (up/down)? So, quite what it relies on in the event of a catastrophic loss of fluid I know not.

With today's legislation, I know there must be a system in there somewhere, so, how about? Any hydraulic lift engineers out there ready to spill the beans?

Sorry, but that is the second abysmal use of the apostrophe this evening (trolls'). Do you work in a Greengrocers by any chance?

No apostrophes unless you are missing out a letter (didn't, can't) or indicating possession of one thing by another. (The Cat's Ball, Brahms' Third Symphony).

Feel free to call me anal...

Ok, hello Anal :-?

An aprostrophe at the end of a word indicates' more than one thing or as a collective, does it not??
That is why it is the the 60s' and not the 60's.
???????

To say that it is the 60's, provokes the question:

The 60's what??

Yes, it is all about possesion.

Only one place that it goes and that is before the 60

'60s

Indicating you have missed out the 19. I just write Sixties. It's a lot easier!

Tut tut Speedbird. Pay attention like red_kola!

See my post back in 'Signs' about the apostrophe for instruction and The Apostrophe Protection Society. Really. Not kidding :)

Yes, but what if it is class sixties, as in the trains'??

That is the sense I was referring too, to the year.

...... even though it is not really vital, would class become the 19??

Ok, ok, I'll take a look, but that was just what I was told.........

He he

*goes all childish*: but it wasn't me who started it!! ;-)

No no, I'll go and learn properly, but the one thing I can see and already hate about the sites given (except for the fact that obviously have nothing better to do with themselves) is the amount of adverts and crap that come up with them.
