Building a 1:1000 scale model of Glasgow. Just like they did:

Oh ye of little faith ... that's what the National Lottery (or the Scottish Arts Council ... or commercial sponsorship) is for. Who wants to mix the papier mache? ::):

Too late, as all of us that visited Glasgow's Glasgow know all too well.

Glasgow council already have a such a model that they retain and update to reflect changes to the city, and it featured in Area 7, titled Building it Up.

Probably lying a back room or a skip now though, replaced by a computer fly through thingy.

Anybody on the inside know?

The VR Glasgow model is a start....

I think the Merchant City Initiative are producing some kind of virtual model of that area, with more detail of the buildings too. Reminds me of that online built history of Manhattan somebody posted about a while back.
Always looking up...

That looks nice, and I can even recognise bits of it. Can't see the big lighter detail yet though :)

Something wrong with it for me.

After I hit Enter, it takes me to a page titled The Glasgow Directory with a Disclaimer and a Feedback section, but nowhere to go.

Is it just me or is it currently not online perchance?

No need Ronnie... it works fine.

You need to have installed a VRML plugin and allow that site to open pop-up windows. When you click the enter button, it pops up in a new window.

Thanks for the update, I hadn't noticed the popups pining in the corner.

No luck though as the the English VRML download is currently failing with 'file not found' comeing back from the server. I'll try later.
