Lumsden Model Dwelling, 13 Roslin Place, St George's Cross

Please can anyone tell me about the Lumsden Model Dwelling which existed at 13 Roslin Place in 1871? I had thought that model lodgings were built for men seeking work in a new area, but it was home to the public lamplighter and his family in 1871.

Apparently, they were not just for working men. Some people, who could afford the small cost, stayed there in preference to having to stay at the poorhouse.
