For some weeks, if not months, now I've seen a convoy of various police motorcycles, vans and a G4S prison transport type thing running between Jct3 of the M80 and somewhere in the town. Mostly seen them heading into the city at about 5:15 or so, but spotted them this morning around 08:15 or so speeding out Eastwards.

I had the thought I'd seen something about it on here, but I can't find anything on search.

Any ideas what it's all about folks?

When I've been getting a lift back to Glasgow from Edinburgh at night the past few weeks I've seen similar convoys coming off the A(M)8 at the Shotts cut off over the last few weeks at around 5pm - half a dozen out riders, couple of traffic cars and 4x4s with the G4s minibus, can only assume it's to do with the recent high profile case of attempted assassination of Northern Irish former paramilitaries now based in Scotland - and that's as much as I want to speculate on what's been going on

Seen the same about 07:30 in the morning, when I'm going through to Edinburgh, as I usually meander along the Salsburgh Road towards Harthill, and meet them coming from Shotts, obviously from the HMP, and going on the M8.
From a relative I have associated with one of the agencies it is prisoner transport escort.

The 4 x 4' vehicles in the convoy are I'm led to believe are armed response units.

Could it have been the member of the Edinburgh drug gang who was at the High Court?

Think it's something to do with the trial of the people accused of trying to get UDA leader Johnny "Mad Dog" Addair killed. Yoker Brian was right.
