Been working in Edinburgh the past 3 months and I'm told I live in Glasgae and that I'm a Weegie c**t (which I'm assured is a term of endearment)

Oh and Polmadie is pronounced Polmaddy apparently .

This has actually got me thinking of other town-native pronunciations; some examples come to mind:

Blantyre - 'BLANTARR'
Wishaw - 'WISHEY'

Can anyone think of any others?

Definitely Glazgow or Glezga. I can understand that through other regional dialects "GlaSgow" comes through, but "Glezgie" is just a mickey take that no one I know that comes from the city has said, ever!

I have heard Americans say GLASS - COW with a slight pause in the middle. And they also say EDIN - BORROW.
