I've seen your fairies and they are very prominent on a Saturday night, up the town....

Finally I met some aggressive beggars last Sunday. I made the mistake of crossing the lights at red and got stranded on the island at the bottom of the High Street beside the Tron. "Any spare change? I'm homeless." My response, "Nope." He and his colleagues countered with a torrent of abuse. At that point I thought I'd rather risk the traffic and shot off to McChuills with their shouts ringing in my ears.

BTW they were locals, forty year old Glaswegians with their own teeth and apparently regular visitors to the barbers. Panhandlers I understand is the more accurate description.

Anyway, carry on. Though if people are genuinely getting threatened, maybe reporting incidents to the police is the thing to do? Does anyone do that?

Not begging, but if you are waiting at the bus stops in Stockwell Street or Candleriggs, increasing reports of people having their pockets picked while waiting at bus stops in the area especially southbound stops.

Yeah, because a few dodgy looking gentleman are hanging around in the small bush beside that stop in Stockwell Street. You'd never know they were there sometimes.

Especially with all that Hi/Vi clothing they are often seen wearing.

Car park at Stockwell Street. The "guys" who sit beside the machines that issue parking tickets. However had a well dressed female in late 20s claimed to be Romanian seeking help with bus fare to Edinburgh. Had a small note book on which she said she would write her address so she could post me back her bus fare. In Argyll Street this afternoon. Struck me as very strange after I refused watched her for a while as she approached other people and after a while noticed she had a male "watcher"? or person involved with her. Anyone else had this?

A woman sitting begging outside KFC in Union St. has a man who stands about six feet from her and removes money from her cup now and again.

I have a very high opinion of the Roma community in Glasgow.

The moment they arrived, all the locals who had been selling the Big Issue for years immediately got housed and handed over their pitches to the newcomers.

What more can you ask for?

I'm well prepared to overlook the entirety of my exposure to crime at their hands for that reason alone.

It's the older Roma women you need to watch. I've watched dozens of people drop something and then a big squad of them descend on what the person has dropped, had a good look, then tossed it away. They'll also grab you, which is out of order.
