"People make Glasgow" the new city brand

What do you think? Its not an easy thing to come up with for sure, and its not ever going to be as good as Glasgow smiles better. But might be better than 'Scotland with style' which always seemed a bit snidey.

The slogan "People Make Glasgow" has been unveiled as the new brand name for Scotland's largest city.

It was chosen following a consultation which saw ideas submitted from more than 1,500 people from 42 countries.

Glasgow City Marketing Bureau said the process saw "words such as real, smart, home, creative, bright and better came through, time and time again".

The brand will be used to market the city at home and abroad and replaces: "Glasgow: Scotland with style."

The slogan combines with key ideas to form different messages, such as People Make Glasgow Home and People Make Glasgow Creative.

Absolute junk IMHO. People make Glasgow, so what? People make every city. It doesn't for me deliver a unique selling point.

And besides that it just isn't snappy enough - when you saw Mr Happy and "Glasgow's Miles Better" plastered on the side of one of the Provan gasometers as you drove past it gave the message to you straight. Sorry I'm not a fan.

that logo has already been cornered by a section of the city

Sounds a bit over-thought to me; the result of trying to distil something from a vapour that was too dilute in its very beginning. My tactic (for what it's worth) would have been to go for something that is inherently glaswegian, with gnarly-but-honest old roots spreading from Pollok to Partick and throughout... Glasgow Ya Bas
