Custom House Quay Gardens

Postby Gary Brown » Wed May 22, 2013 1:21 am

Anyone noticed that Custom House Quay gardens are starting to take shape now after the development finally happening to tidy them up? The eastern section has been partially landscaped by the looks of things. ANyone know if there was a plan drawn up before the work happened?

Its part of the plans to have a link to southern general from the City centre, not sure if its a free service or if begins from CHQ though.

I know there is plans for a Fastlink hub from Union street where the fastlink buses will begin their operations from. I havent read or heard of SPT Announcing anything that involves the NHS providing free transport from the city centre to the NSGH.

Cracking picture.

I don't know if this is a new thing (or if it's even true), but looking at the Police Scotland Facebook page, a lot of people are getting tickets for cycling between there and where the Kingston Bridge is.

I've had a quick look, can't see any evidence, and I cycle it pretty much every day...

There was a crackdown on people working in the IFSD from "PARKING" on the new section of road, designated for the fast link nearer to the Kingston Bridge / Renfrew Ferry, which resulted in tickets/removal of vehicles but not for cycling.

There has also been police operations in the area clamping down on anti social behaviour along the riverside path.

Both have been mentioned in the Evening Times over the last 12-18 months

I have a memory of both Western SMT and Central SMT have terminus stops in the 60's early 70's at CHQ or the Broomielaw.
Is that right or did I just imagine it?

It was definately, 100% there about a month ago. Some wee guy was complaining about getting a ticket for cycling there and was wanting it rescinded quick smart, and quite right too.

ADDED: I think he might have been talking about the path from Jamaica Street until the Kingston Bridge part where he got the ticket. I remember him saying it was a "shared use" path.

I can't find any online trace of any police activity involving cycling on or near the Broomielaw.
