The pictures being reported on the BBC site are rather different to these ones, so now I'm confused about what the options even are: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-20948763

And what's the stuff covering half the square in option 3? Cotton wool? Smouldering tarmac?

The pictures don't do any favours for any of the designs - they never do. In fact I'd go as far to say that I can't stand them they are so amateur looking and the use of the ubiquitous rent a crowd is patronising like we can't visualise it or we need to be told where the people go  Could they not even make the crowd a bit more interesting or more local like the odd ned dotted about?

I agree with Hound dog and Fat Cat and Fossil.

You all know its also being judged by a panel of stakeholders (I wish I could drive wan through a few of their hearts, read vested interests).

Transport museum 75 million cock up that the cooncil think is wonderful...........iconic I think is the phrase for the "Riverside"
Now George Square 15 million (submissions done by 5 year olds from what I can make out)...................I wonder what Boris would say if they tried this shite on Trafalgar Square, as far as I can see a lot of similarities.

Council were talking about borrowing money were they not

FFS if we vote the same numpties in for 50 years and watch them destroy probably what was (maybe still is) one the of the best Victorian cities in the UK and then still vote them in again and again and again and again..............well maybe we deserve all we get.............it beggars belief and I despair.

Going to a darkened room/boozer for a couple of large wans!!!

John

(EDIT I'm not grinding any political axe here, before I get shot down by those with a particular affiliation. I presonally couldn't give a shit what color they wear............if we could just get some of them to do what it seems a lot of us want it would make a nice change)

The more you look at the designs the worse they get. Glasgow's architecture/status deserves an improvement to the Square however going down the minimalist/steel/"burst pipe water feature" isn't the solution.

I don't like the contrast of the older buildings standing around a completely modernised Square,I think more imagination and subtlety could be applied. The addition of a bigger more ornate fountain aka Trafalgar Square, with a more contemporary design that blends with the surrounding buildings could be the focus with a fair amount of natural landscaping and some kind of quirky, tasteful "Glasgow" feature (?) not a tartan designed tiled walk area.

and blot out Queen St station entrance completely.

I thought the Queen Street Station entrance was getting a separate makeover?

No irregular shaped steel domes.
No concrete slabs for seats.
No large swimming pool.
No walk around jets of water.
No tartan themes.
No large pin spires aka Dublin.

Lots of trees.
