Also the RS McColl logo and a City Bakeries tea tin - was that unique to City Bakeries or was it a general tea tin design?
The Hospitality Inn was in Cambridge St and speaking of Cambridge St has Gran(d)fare been mentioned and MacFisheries

Yep - the Hospitality Inn is what is now the Glasgow Thistle. Can't remember when it changed ownership - I think I remember it still being the Hospitality Inn in 1998-99 when I went there for a graduate job interview.

Does anyone know when this building went up originally? Looking at it I'd say early 80s by the style of architecture.

The Dodge City in Paisley at Arkleston closed down to make way for a B&Q as well, there was also a Great Mills just down a bit on Renfrew Road that turned into a Focus which has now also bit the dust. Had to love Great Mills colour scheme, was like one of Pat Sharps sweatshirts!

Used to be a Queensway store around there in Arkleston too during the 80s that went down also, used to laugh at their TV adverts to lure the punters in.

And of course the recently chain of MFI furniture stores that went bust.

Anyone remeber the TV advert where the Father and 2 kids assemble the Hygena kitchen while the mother is out shopping and has a big surprise to see a fully fitted kitchen when she comes home... ::):

scotwest credit union have current accounts.

and i understand after years of trying to survive in the market and after many rebrands and shake-ups radio rentals eventually became this lot
http://www.boxclever.co.uk/index.html

radio rentals still lives on in australia, where renting tv's and satellite systems is still common.

We used to have Radio Rentals tvs & videos. Their engineers were pretty hopeless, more often than not the fault was still there when they left.

VCR rental FROM £8.84 per week!! 8O

Bloody hell, how much did it cost to buy one in 1982?

A free blank tape - that would really seal the deal ::):

It was thirty-odd quid just to buy a film on video, let alone the equipment to view it on.

Come to that, CDs were actually more expensive to buy than than they are now. And we're talking actual price, not adjusting for inflation. And not that the musicians saw a great deal of that in any case.

God bless 'piracy'.

A Grundig G45 VCR (with the bar code scanner technology which lost out to VideoPlus) cost £360 in 1988. It still works.
