I sampled that on numerous occasions mmmmmm lovely and always found the Griffin staff to be courteous beyond their jurisdiction a great wee pub :)
in my mind the finest in Glasgow.

Got to agree with that FP the best i`ve been in yet.
I don`t like poncy pubs a pub should be a pub not an amusement centre :)

Sitting on a train in Central Station the other day, managed to get about 20 mins free wifi access from the National Express train on the next platform. Of course, I lost the signal when it pulled away...

Every McDonalds in the land pretty much. Certainly if you were in Renfrew a short trip to the McD's in front of Chivas would have turned up some BB action ;) also Govan isn't a kick in the scrot away from Renfrew

Is that progress?

Yes. A thousand times, yes it is progress.

The Internet is a commodity, and the more people offer it for free, the sooner we'll be away from insane £3+ per hour pricings for Internet access.

Peckhams cafe on Glassford St can now be added to the list.

And I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but so does Biblocafe on Woodlands Rd.

:D I think Biblocafe has been mentioned. But it's always worth repeating.

Are there any places offering free wifi between Byres Road and Partick station? I've used the Cresswell Lane Beanscene a few times, as the best I can think of. Any others?

There's a coffee shop next to the new Tesco on Dumbarton Road which says free wifi on the sign. I've never been in though.

I've used it a couple of times: food good, service friendly. wifi easy and reasonably fast, even with a couple of other laptoppers in the place.

Partick Library? I think the wi-fi runs even when the library is shut.

Ahh, yes. I never think of the libraries. Do they have wifi up at the Mitchell, out of interest?

You need to have your library card to get wifi at libraries.

Yes. There's wifi round most of the building and a short distance outside. As John says you need a library card but they issue them on the spot if you have suitable ID. I believe you can even get a temporary card if you're a visitor to the city.

How does it go for getting a library card if you're not a Glasgow resident, ie East Dunbartonshire. Is a temp membership your only chance?
