Yes thanks to victorians eh.it should be linked up to city union line on south side also linked at st enoch to low level and glasgow cross could be linked up with city union line and low level.that would extend its reach without much cost.Glasgow needs it now.lets show eburgh how to do it properly.

I still hate journalists and people who should know better than to refer to The Underground or The Subway as the Clockwork Orange.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

I agree with you Dex - as a born & bred Glaswegian, who can remember his last trips on the old pre-modernisation system, to me it will always be The Subway, I point blank refuse to call it The Underground or Clockwork Orange and god help anyone who has the audacity to even mention the words "The Tube" in my vicinity!

I was only half listening to the news earlier but i'm sure I heard some guy say the name was changed to Underground in the 70s. It was changed in 1937 to disassociate the public's memory from the old unreliable cable hauled system. Most still called it the Subway though.

Didn't think you were that old Ken ::):

I know there was a rebranding exercise to change it back from the Underground to back to being called the Subway - most stations now have the name of the Station displayed above the entrance where before it was the big U logo

Cheeky whipper snapper, I bought the first ticket ::):

It was officially changed back to Subway in 2003 (according to my site, so it must be true :? ), I suppose they bowed to public sentiment although the cynic in me thinks it was a publicity stunt and 99.9% of the public couldn't give a sod what it's called.

God forbid anyone would be have posted a tongue in cheek reference to name of Glasgow's own train set

I've never minded the "clockwork orange" tag, I like the dark undertones (Burgess/Angelic Upstarts) that it evokes rather than the cute toy town image than the journalist was probably aiming for.
