second hand tv remotes

Postby The Egg Man » Mon May 30, 2011 9:18 pm

Talking with my brother earlier he was trying to convince me there is/ was a place in Glasgow which specialised in second hand remotes for tellies, video and DVD players. The trouble is he can't remember where it was or even if it was a proper shop, a market (Savoy Centre/ Forge) type place or maybe just a stall at the Barras.

Anyone help? Thanks in advance.

There's clearly a market for the things, since two of the major problems for the Golden Jubilee (or the National Waiting Times Centre if you're being pernickity) are a) getting folk to leave, and b) folk nicking the remote controls for the tvs.

Funny you should mention that place because there was a guy on the telly earlier talking about a heart procedure which isn't available in Scotland but is available elsewhere and the last time I saw him was in the Golden Jubilee.

I should have thought to nick the remote as well as the telly

The GJ has recently become the national Cardio-Thoracic centre. It doesn't have an A&E per se (thus the generally civilised nature of the place), but heart attacks (and related issues) are the exception to the rule.

I'm almost 100% sure it's at the Barras.

I had some treatment there a couple of years back and was enormously impressed by the standard of care and the unequalled professionalism of the medical staff.

When the history of the Scottish Parliament is written I reckon the purchase of the Golden Jubilee will go down as one of the early highlights - right up there with the smoking ban.
