A random guess...how about Clayslaps rd(or is it ave/st) which joins Argyll st and Sauchiehall st near the Kelvingrove Galleries for the shortest and Great Western Road for the longest(i know it goes outwith Glasgow boundaries though).
James.

I think you're on a loser with the shortest, I've had a rummage through my GPS and there are any number of streets of similar or shorter length to Clayslaps Road.

I'd probably wager safe that you'd have to go on foot to find it as anything short enough to qualify won't show up on maps that mortals can afford.

On that basis, I have been offered the following, but as its not local to me, some brave foot soldier would need to go and confirm:

Langbank Street, Gorbals - 30 feet long runs off Eglinton Street.

Hmmmm.... did you mean Glasgow boundary, or really just city centre

Clayslaps Rd ~200 ft

Salamanca St ~80 ft
Southbank St ~150 ft
Powfoot St ~160 ft
Pheronhill St ~190 ft
Saracen Head Road ~140 ft
Suffolk St ~180 ft

A few selected between Shettleston and the city centre, I'd have to visit them to confirm (but am sans transport just now), but they really shouldn't be that far out.

What about Celtic Street in Maryhill where the bus depot used to be? That's about 30 ft long (one close i think) before it opens into the new development there.

St Vincent and Grenadine was the 2nd country to enter the Olympic ceremony on friday night - so I claim St Vincent St as #8 and say that Scottie McClue was talking out his elbow.

Wishaw has the themed series of Ladysmith Street, Mafeking Street and Kimberley Street. All towns that were besieged in the Boer War....

East Kilbride has a number of streets named after Hebridean Islands. For some peculiar reason however, they are not "Streets" or even "Roads", just the name of the island. Number 20 Mull or 36b Tiree.

Used to give you a bit of a shock in the taxi queue at night I can tell you.

Any idea what the reason for this is? I know that one of the rows at New Lanark is called Caithness Row because a lot of the workers came from the Highlands and Islands.

Similar thing perhaps?

Cumbernauld used to specialise in that one - Isles of Scotland, types of trees, even all the pubs even had to be named after birds.
