Oh, foreign places. I was gonna do Scotland Street.
Also, there used to be a Bute Street in Maryhill, and there's a Wemys Street somewhere but again they're hardly foreign countrys. Hmmm...Orkney Street? No...
According to our resident Tim there's a Manitoba Place near Paradise...there used to be a Kaiser Street in Denniston, but that changed after the war......Kilbarchan Street? Not a foreign country but it might as well be...someone else did Tobago street I'm sure...oh I'm stumped!

Isn't there a French Street in the east end?
Canada Court in Miller Street.
Baltic Street, maybe.
Is there a Denmark Street?
Sardinia Lane, in the west end.
Egypt, near Tollcross.
Albion Street (old name for England).
Tobago Street.
Caledonia Road (Roman name for Scotland)
Caledon Street, west end (ditto)
Roman Road, Bearsden

Top of the head, that's all I can think of.

Anyone know of a Malta St? I Think it was in the Gorbals before the rebuild

I believe there was a Malta st, there is now a Malta terrace in the new builds. I think they named quite a few of the new streets after old ones, but changed the ending(street to terrace etc).
I see dead buildings...

Holland isn't a country. It's a province of the Netherlands.
Falkland isn't a country. "The Falkland Islands are an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom", says the web page of the Falkland Islands Government. Falkland (the word on its own) is a town in Fife.
Scotland isn't a foreign country.

So the list is down to 4.

Ronnie - I feel I must correct you, as an avid Scottie McClue listener (due to spending many hours stuck at work on the night shift, I remember the the question clearly because it featured so often on the show - usually by numptys of the early 1990's pre-ned variety, "The question was can you name the 7 streets in Glasgow which are named after countries?".

However I will concede that my arse was totally oot the windae with Falkland Street, but I can now confirm that the seven streets in glasgow named after countries are as follows:

1) Denmark Street (Possilpark)
2) Holland Street (City Centre)
3) Jamaica Street (City Centre)
4) India Street (City Centre)
5) Portugal Street (Gorbals)
6) Scotland Street (Kinning Park)
7) Jordan Street (Whiteinch)

Just double checked these with a relative (former taxi driver) and all I can say is "get it right up you!!!) ::):

Hi guys
The original question, as posed by cumbo (not Scotty McCue), was about foreign countries. So Scotland Street is out. And Holland, whatever you say, isn't a country.
And I'm sorry if I was sounding crabbit earlier, but at least I wasn't downright offensive.

Larkhall only has a London Road and Hamilton Road, but has streets named after people, i.e Keir Hardie Road, Wallace Drive etc.

Stonehouse has Argylle Street and the Trongate

If we're dishing out half points then i think St Vincent St (& the Grenadines) should count too. So we're back to 7 :D

What about themed streets? There's the Macbeth Series in Parkhead comprising of Glamis Rd, Macduff St/Pl, Birnam Rd, Macbeth St/Pl, and also the Greek/Roman Pantheon Series comprising of Jupiter, Mercury, Minerva, Juno (Hera) and Mars... any more :?:
here i go, it's coming for me through the trees
