Singing in the haze

Postby reginekierkegaard » Tue Aug 10, 2004 11:20 pm

I went into the Yorkhill tunnel a few days ago. As usual, I went alone. I walked the first 300 yards when the haze began to build up. Suddenly, I heard a young female voice originated from the deep end of the tunnel (I think). Her voice was high pitched, soft and sweet but I couldn't make up what she was singing. It lasted for 10 seconds. I stopped, I used my 6D maglit to see if I can spot anyone in the deep end, but my visibility was seriously reduced by the haze. I switched off all my lights, in the hope that, I can identify her location from her lights, but it was pitch black. I used my thermal scanner, but again, it has failed to register a heat signature (but it can be malfunctioning in the haze). I began to worry that I was hallucinating (breathing in chemicals from the haze). I put on my respirator and retreated.
I have the following hypothesis
1. Another female urban explorer (possibly in a small group) was singing in the dark at the deep end of the tunnel (trying to freak me out).
2. Yorkhill tunnel contain some hallucinogenic chemicals in the haze.
3. Someone placed a cassette player at the end of tunnel and linked it with a motion sensors as a high tech joke (in which case, you will see me on TV some day)...this will also explain why I have no reading on my thermal scanner......

I think it's time for a new thermal imager, mate. Or maybe some IR-camera satellite GPS hookups.

reginekierkegaard, didn't you say, you use a boom mic sometimes? Wouldn't that be useful here...

And besides, stopping because of some chick singing? What about the titanium walking stick and pepper spray. That'll soon sort out any problems...

Move onward! Investigate!

For real. If we had given up on some explorations because of... of... SINGING, we could never look ourselves in the face again.

The mark of a good explorer is... a big pair (you know what I mean).
