Barrowland Sign Font

Postby alastairandrew » Wed Dec 15, 2010 10:45 pm

Hi,

Slightly odd question but does anyone know what font the iconic Barrowland sign is in? I've seen some discussion on another thread that the neon sign only dates to the early 80's. If so does that mean that there is a good chance that the signage is in some standard 70s / 80s font face?

Cheers,
Alastair

Reminds me of a 70's disco style

think of the fun you could have with the barras sign if you had the font....anyone got it?

is suppose a hunt thro the millions fonts on various sites would produce it

There are iPhone apps that will use a photo to identify the font.
It's no more a weirdo question than some others posted here and it's hardly a warm welcome to a new member.

Well, the basic shape is Harlow Solid.

You can search some of the foundry websites by style and find your font that way...

Harlow is looking good >>

The extent of the useless information here never ceases to delight me.

Thanks a lot dazzababes,

Harlow Solid looks ideal. I'd been looking all over the place; the best (albeit poor) match I'd found was one called Alba.

Looks like it's a commercial font (£25). But ... it was included in MS Office 2003.

Link: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/infopath-help/which-fonts-are-included-in-office-2003-HA001187231.aspx

And it appears to be available here (Windows Live): http://cid-039062b88d180399.office.live.com/self.aspx/Fonts/Arabic%20Fonts/HARLOWSI.TTF

Happy detourning.
