Mysterious temporary signposts .definite conspiracy!

Postby Underbella » Tue Nov 02, 2010 12:31 am

Right! After many years of having this in the back of my head, I finally got round to asking this question. I hope there is no rational explanation, because it'll be like finding out that Santa isn't real..

So, does anyone know anything about the strange small signs that appear around Glasgow. Always rectangular with edges removed to form an arrow at the end. They say things like UNIT and LOC. And today , one said CARS. But they never seem to point to anything in particular. A google search and a local one on here seems to mention nothing. Of course the perpetrators may shoot anyone who even discusses the subject, but if you laugh in the face of danger, then dare to tell me what you know! Out with it! Please!

faithfully

It's maybe some TV or Cinema picture being made.
These signs help the crew find where they ought to be.

Definitely film shoot signs. 'LOC' means Location, 'UNIT' is where the production vehicles, catering etc. are parked, and the other ones are acronyms or aliases for the film title.

I think:
TCU = The Comedy Unit
FNB = F'n'B productions

At least they used TCU signs when they filmed at our house...

Lovely! Yes thank you people for the fast replies. Presumably these filmy-eyed types think this kind of obscure signage will prevent the riff raff spectating and heckling ! Anyway, just for fun, I set up a payg phone and wrote my number on the sign! Let's see if we get any interesting calls from lost troubled actors, experimental artistes, Grips, burge pullers or Best Boys (and other people that appear on credits and have silly names)
Ps I do love hidden Glasgow and been lurking around for many years. Time to get a bit more involved I think!
