The lanterns could be Turkish and not necessarily Japanese.

Josef does the owner of the pic have a connection with it or did he find/buy it and if so was it part of a collection?

Is it the long lost Grahamston Playhouse - somewhere under platform 7 at Central Station, near the elusive subterranean shopping arcade???

It originates from a Genealogy site, Bridie. I'm trying to get a bit more information about the photo, but still awaiting a response.

I have now convinced myself that, because of the man's outline and laurels, that it may be called the 'someone-or-other Memorial Hall'. It's worth a try!!

It will be good to get more details.

I know. I shall be having stern words at the next OGC night with the bloke who asked for assistance.

It has, and tiny wee things they are too (well the ones I've been in, anyway).

Remember this thread?

No nearer to getting more info. or identifying the venue, but I was in the Mitchell recently and came across a similar picture (not the same venue). It was a social evening to welcome home the men who had fought in WW1.

Worth considering, or are the outfits too old-fashioned?

I've just remembered this thread as well.

Josef did you ever find out if the bloke discovered anything more about this?

Fresh eyes looking at it again ..extreme right bottom row - is that a stuffed animal and is the woman second from the right holding a stuffed animal?

It was Pollokshields Borough Halls, Bridie. If I remember correctly, the photo in question is on the wall there.

I thought that had been answered on this thread. Obviously not.

Ah right -any more info on what the occasion was?

Any more pics that need investigating? As a matter of fact it might be a good idea (for the long winter ahead :( ) for all HG's to go to local charity shops etc find some emm unusual photos 8O for another go at this :D

The person who raised the question at the OGC who raised the question was supposed to come back to this forum with the answer.

As I remember, it was a staff 'do' for the staff at Pollok House. I have no idea what the 'do' was for, but I believe the photo is on display at Pollok House.
