Disused graveyards/ locations with alledged occult connectio

Postby thequeensparkranger » Sat May 01, 2010 12:52 pm

Hi there,

Been exploring weird and lost parts of Glasgow with my camera and am looking for new places to go in and around the Glasgow area.

I am particulalry interested in old graveyards & burial grounds...have been to Abercromby Street,Kirk Lane,Gorbals Burial Ground,Southern and main Necros.... Can anyone confirm if there is an old burial ground in Duart Street,Maryhill? Is the Eastern Necro in Janefield St worth a look? What about Sighthill Cemetery?

Still exploring Harry Bell's ley line theories and am also interested in places which are alledged to have occult or supernatural links or legends attatched to them.

Any info or pointers would be welcome.

I have acquired the Mysterious Glasgow book by Geoff Holder and Haunted Glasgow by Ron Halliday.Any other books worth getting?

Cheers,

Elliot (TQPR)

I am probably barking up the wrong tree but here goes. There was a man called John Ferguson and he
was a Professor of Chemistry in Glasgow. During his lifetime he gathered quite a collection of books.
Some of these relate to the occult and there is more information on here.

I really used to wonder about that old graveyard towards the bottom of Abercrombie Street, the bus going from Glasgow to East Kilbride passed it.
Anyone know how old it is and when it was last used ?

Thanks.

There used to be an old Graveyard in Ingram Street, just before Albion Street, on the left hand side as you headed towards High Street.

I lost my virginity in the Sighthill one.

The occult connection could well refer to the hiding of bodies. There's still room under the patio if anyone's interested... ;)

I gather you've found it again.

Be careful going around these old graveyards Elliot. I got caught up with some of the meanest looking heavies in a black jeep whilst visiting the grave of Squadron Leader Archie McKellar DSO DFC and Bar in Eastwood cemetery. Its seems to be a haven for druggies in some cases. In one instance pit bulls were set on us and called off at the last moment by two shell suited ar*eholes.

It just grew back due to lack of use .. like a piercing hole.

(Sorry for mentioning your hole Joe, I know that's a sore point)

Its just a memorial to him in the necropolis, he is buried in tollcross, he was destitute when he died, so there is no way he would have been interred in the necropolis, you had to be worth a few quid to get in there.
Is this gonna be a standup fight, sir, or another bughunt?
