The BBC wrote:Steven Purcell told The Scottish Sun newspaper that he had taken the drug a "handful" of times.

Besides if you had a story that a newspaper was willing to pay you money to print wouldn't you take the cash? Personally I think the 'woe is me' story is a ruse to a far more sinister plot which will unfurl behind closed doors whilst the public picks over the flesh he's left hanging to keep them at bay.

Ex employee of Chirnside Community Initiative in the news today, the same family who lost their MOT license when SP departed these shores:

Glasgow's a mess, from top to bottom.

Purcell feels he won't be back in politics. Too right you won't.

It's way past time Glaswegians said NO MORE to Glasgow City Council.
Steven Purcell's expensive PR and legal machine are churning out
what they think we want to hear.
We should have a 24 hour strike all over Glasgow, everybody down tools
don't use cars, banks, etc etc.
Council workers are striking, why not the people too!!!!
I am so looking forward to a labour candidate chapping my door
to ask if I will be voting for them, what fun I will have then

So as they say in a certain publication. After todays vote by Glasgow City Councillors to reject an enquiry into the Stephen Purcell affair "Then thats all right then?". Recalls a phrase "The king is dead long live the king!"
At least the west of Scotland press are beginning to be a bit more open about this affair. To-days Herald is interesting. Seems some Councillors are company directors of "arms length" companies set up by the council. Begs a question " What knowledge of the building trade do you need to be to be a director of City Building LLP?".

Whilst having lunch with a collegue from Aberdeen yesterday,a city with its own council problems,i brought up the subject of the Steven Purcell issue. His contribution was that he was a Fat Weegie Speccy Junkie Poof.
Realising that he was unlikely to participate in a balanced debate i swiftly moved the subject matter to football.

Shame he's not around to see how smoothly things are going at the council's arm's length babies:

Staff at the largest of Glasgow City Council’s hived-off companies have been told their hours and salaries must be drastically cut – or there will be as many as 800 redundancies.

The company, headed by £132,500-a-year entrepreneur Fergus Chambers

Och, I'm sure Mr Chambers will gladly give up exactly the same percentage and cut in terms and conditions as his employees, won't he...?
