recap on prev posts I bought Shades of Grey by Oscar Marzaroli in the 80's and I still love McIllvanneys words and descriptions.
I enjoyed Night Song of the Last Tram some parts of that are so sad and poignant same with the film Ratcatcher - those kids were fantastic actors.

More than Glasgow covered in

Mapping the nation

Among the historic and unusual maps included in the volume are:

The extensive tram network in Glasgow in the last century (1908)
A Soviet map of Greenock pinpointing factories and military targets (1979)
Specially designed maps for blind people (1851 and 1978)
Temperance maps showing the location of public houses (1884)
The first road maps, from the 17th century.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

Not strictley a "Glasgow Book" but to-day was shown "The Great War. New Kilpatrick's Response to the call of the King. " Edited by Major John Brownlie dated 1916. Has photos of nearly all the men in New Kilpatrick who were in the First World War in 1914-1915. With short notes. As New Kilpatrick covered Temple, Knightswood and Drumchapel has photos of men from these areas. The "Officers" came mainly from Bearsden. However its an amazing book when you realize many of these young and not so young men never came back.I wonder if other parts of the Greater Glasgow area produced such books. This was obviously produced as a "fund raiser" for war charities mainly I suspect the Red Cross.

This is a recent find from my favourite 2nd hand bookshop. I can only turn up one search result on HG for the author, and this is a reference within a quotation.

Glasgow Rivers & Streams: their legends & their lore by T.C.F. Brotchie.

Published in 1914 and with an inscription and sketch in the endpapers by the author dated 1929 / Glasgow Art Gallery.

Illustration on the front cover shows the bridge at Waterfoot.
