Looks like good footage there GK 8)

Is that Renfrew Road in Govan with the building on the right being the entrance to Shieldhall sewage works?

Yep, it is Renfrew Road, the loco had just came out of Stevens.

There's 4 hours of footage on these DVDs, little bit pricey, but worth it I think.

It's brilliant to see all the different Glasgow DVDs available now, it's fair to say we've never had it so good :D

*Exclusive* Sneak preview from BTF vol.3 this is not released until the 29th of May but heres a wee gander at one of the films with a relevant Glasgow theme.

This docu made in 1974 illustrates the electrifcation of the WCML as it progressed north of the border.

Enjoy 8)

I bought Glasgow Beyond the City DVD this week.

Modern film with scenes around the Greater Glasgow area. It's presented in sections North, South, East and West. With other sections including Architecture and Entertainment.

I see HMV is selling Auld Glasgow and The Glasgow Story DVD's. Has anyone noticed that Auld Glasgow Part 2 and The Glasgow Story has the same film?

A pal of lent me a copy of the half hour, Trans-Clyde promotional video, filmed between 1977 & 1980. I've now got round to copying it. Sadly it's a very old original tape, and the picture is pretty rough, & washed out. I've got my eye open for a better copy.
For those of you with the 'Glasgow Underground' DVD, that used some scenes from this tape.
A few stills (sorry for the fuzziness, a combination of duff video, & duff capture software :-( ).

Lewis's at Christmas, ah the memories.

Christmas pipers, & Santa (being arrested ? :o )

Modernisation on the Underground, and reconstruction of the Argyle Line.
The first two are Partick, under construction, it looks very similar at the moment :-)

The Queen, on the escalator at St Enoch. She opened the modernised Underground, and Argyle Line.

Prince Philip, probably wishing he was elsewhere.

All done.

Great pictures Ken, I love seeing the street scenes in particular.

It's funny to see the escalators on Buchanan Street and St Enochs without any roof covers on them - was this the original plan, and how long before they were altered?

Going from memory, I think it was something to do with planning regulations.
Later the conditions were relaxed, and permission given to build roofs, as it was proving difficult to keep the place secure, & the escalators working, being exposed to the elements.
Can't remember when they went up :?:

The Transport Mueseum had some a while back, although the last time I looked they were sold out.

I think theyre showing that just now in the cinema in the auld street, looks good

Seen "Just Another Saturday" and "Elephant's Graveyard" on sale in ASDA recently.

I think they were both priced at £16.

A friend has copies of these and some other Glasgow related videos he has promised to lend me.
