JohnR much appreciated; any images of this one are to be treasured. But it still hurts that city like Glasgow can 'lose' such a heritage treasure... and the highly suspect manner in which this happened; so similar to the other Greek Thompson tragedies in the city - but we have already done all that pain :(

Great to see John R's pictures of the façades to West Regent Street & Wellington street

In 1872, 3 years before his death, Thomson added the Wellington Street extension to an existing town house fronting West Regent Street. He thereafter occupied offices in the new building. Details can be found at http://www.codexgeo.co.uk/dsa/building_full.php?id=M014206

A few years ago when I foolishly tried to bring the pub conversation round to Glasgow architecture, my late mate, Brian, mentioned "that Greek c**t , Arthur Thomson". When I informed him that Arthur Thomson was a criminal, Brian's retort was "You'd better believe it!" the conversation then reverted to the usual pub drivel.

Excuse my cinicism but great  just what glasgow needs, another "grade a" souless box office space with shiny new plug sockets but no charachter, what the germans failed to do in wwII and the developers failed to do in the 60's the business community are doing in the 00's! Glasgows miles better - at demolishing :!: :!:

Thanks for your time

Sam
Hmmm I wonder what happens if i press that lever.... Ahh It operates that shiny new plug socket!

Its not bother, Mr Sam has quite adequately summed up the main points of this - shiny plug sockets (?) and no soul. Yawn, what a unique fresh viewpoint on city architecture.....

Plug sockets for fox sake, what WILL they come up with next? the mind boggles........

Hi Bingo Bango, to put up pictures you need to use [ brackets the first set saying [img] at the beginning of the link and the second set saying /img (use brackets) (also for linking url use 'direct' version in image shack)

so http://img119.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc09280.jpg
must become {img}http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/455/dsc09275.jpg{/img} (I've used curly brackets so that you can see the text)

becomes
Image

and
Image

Hope this helps

Mr Sam

Intersting Pictures BTW 8)

...or click the wee button that says Img and it puts the tags in for you, then you can just paste in the image path.
