Anyone buy the Herald on Sunday? In the Magazine is a superb photograph of the "lost platform" of Glasgow Central Low Level, big double page spread plus some reasonably good narrative about the open doors event taking place there. Apparently applications for the event crashed the website and as it is so heavily over subscribed they are potentially making it a regular, even daily event!!

Form an orderly queue everyone!!!

Yeh - my main home PC is also useless due to a virus, so I cannot access the files on the server and carry out a diagnostic check on the stuff there, looks as though it will remain down for the forseeable future.

Did the article mention that the event was sold out before the bookings website officially opened?

Just to let anyone travelling on the 28th July and for the following 4 weekends and Mon 7th October there are alterations to train services, no trains are running via Stirling towards Perth/Dundee due to the station being closed for re-signalling and re-laying of lines. All Alloas, Dunblanes and Stirling services will be re-routed to terminate at Falkirk Grahamston, with buses replacing services Grahamston-Larbert-Stirling and to Perth/Dundee.

Aberdeens are running via fife calling at Linlithgow, Inverkeithing then as booked from Dundee to Aberdeen

Inverness services are a bus to Perth then train from Perth-Inverness

Probably only if you don't need to change at Waverley. It's less than two hours from Glasgow and if you do need to change, you'll hardly notice the passage of time. If you can get it for a couple of quid more than usual, might also be worth if even with the change, but it's really not much of a journey.

Depends really on what company you're travelling with and where from. Oh, and what time of the week - as I recall, First Class at the weekend often involves just free snacks rather than hot meals, and no free alcohol at all (hence why they offer weekend upgrades for a fairly small amount of money!).

It's not a terribly long journey, I'd be inclined not to bother if the price differential is large.

Usually you find weekend first upgrades are sat/sun only, so you may have to buy a 1st class ticket for fri/mon
