Help with enquiry...please

Postby Delmont St Xavier » Thu Aug 04, 2011 7:27 pm

Folks
I have tried using the search function but came up blank - so I've been forced to ask this question again here.

Can anyone direct me to the link of the Food Inspection/Premsies reports that Glasgow City Council have or used to have concerning 'enviromental visits to premises that sell food'. You know the type AN O Cafe Inspectors called on 10th August 2009 and found evidence of food mishandling, poor hygiene, etc...

I thank you all in advance.....

If all else fails, try

"Advice on compliance is available free of charge, however, the proprietor of the business will, in the end, require to decide how to resolve problems in the way most appropriate and practical to his/her particular business. In some cases the proprietor may require to seek specialist advice from another external provider.

tomorrow. I'd like to think the certificates will be available on line at glasgow.gov.uk and these guys should know the URL.

Good luck.

Yes, exactly but how do I find them? I've tried many times and spent many hours looking....

That's exactly the problem, isn't it?

There's nothing in those .pdf URLs to suggest the content of either document so a search of the Glasgow City Council website just returns a long list of documents which might or might not be what you're looking for.

Yes, it was the handiest guide for sussing some places out. I know even the good ones sometimes had issues with 'rodent infestation or storage guidelines' but now that this resource seems to have gone, it is a pain trying to see what the 'professionals' say about an establishment. I often found their reports to be quite fair minded and accurate - it's a total miss....

I was going to get the run down on a place we went last night, but I still can't face re-living the experience...:) maybe one day I'll put the entry into the 'good restaurant/bad restaurant section.'

It took me ages, after years of reading that URL as 'R don lyres' to realise that it meant 'Read-only resources'.

I probably should know this, but is there a popular corporate application where that's the default naming convention?

And have I previously mentioned how much I hate pdf files? Well yes, I have, but If I can just take this opportunity to do it again.....

Did you try using Google's 'Advanced Search' (which Google have recently made available only from a results page - unless anyone knows a short cut?) to specify pdf as the doc type, glasgow.gov.uk as the domain and 'restaurant name' as the search phrase.

(Though I've just tried it and it produced only some of the pdfs I know must be there for the search phrase I used.)

Not sure if this will be of any help, but I know the address you mean and often used it before eating somewhere new or for the morning after if you were feeling crazy.

It was www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Business/Protecti ... /index.htm

But at the moment they are experiencing some "technical issues" hopefully it will be back soon, if not might be worth an email to someone in the council...
