Hello all,
Does any one have any then, & now, pics. of :- 73, Millbrae Road Nursing Home, where I was born in July 1944 ?
My Parents, Robert & Myra Downie, & Brother Tom, lived at :- 1057, Pollokshaws Road, Shawlands at that time, before moving to Umtali, Southern Rhodesia in 1948.

Hello Margaret,
It would still be nice to see some old 'then' photos of the place, as it was from that time 1942 [ when you were born there ] - 1944 [ when I was born there ], as well as any other photos taken of it over time.

Also, why was it called a 'Nursing Home' back at that time, given the current usage / meaning, of that term in recent years ?

Hi Robert,

Just joined up and only seen your post. I come from Shawlands and can get you some pictures of how is it presently. 1057 Pollokshaws Road must be very close to Shawlands Cross?

When you say the Nursing Home in Millbrae Road, are you meaning the old Bon Secures home that used to be run by nuns?

Have you had a look on Google street view to see how they currently look?
