Ok, so the new slogan for Glasgow is "Scotland with Style" Hmmmm.

Obviously there was the "Glasgow's miles better" one before, but wasnt there a couple of others?

"There's a lot Glasgowing on" ? "Glasgow's alive"? Anyone any details or pics of these or other logos?

And he predicted it would help attract £42m to city coffers and create 1000 jobs.

I live in Glasgow and have never seen a chibbing or a glass fight ever.
Suppose it’s only where and with whom you go and drink/club.

You guy's should come up to the messroom in my work. It overlooks Union Street and every Friday/ Saturday lateshift we switch off the Big telly and pull up a chair at the window and observe the Social interaction (action being the operative word) I've seen proper chibbings, full on Malkies, bottle fights and even the odd bit hair pulling with a bit of nipping going on. And it's not even 9 O'clock!!.
After that things can really start to hot up, then it ends with some blue police tape around a bus stop and someones parents getting a chap at the door from Plod to give them the good news.

It aint a pretty picture I can tell you. Give the cops thier due they turn up pronto and in large numbers, but the damage has been done.
They should be rounding up those wee bastards long before it kicks off. I would go into the city centre more often for a night out but I see the same shit going down week in week out, it's like a fecking Ground Hog day I can tell you.

Thats why I decided to leave Glasgow. I really miss it, but I couldnt stand walking around the town with it full of neds and not being able to do anything without checking the football results.

I lived in Ibrox and couldnt go out every second saturday to even the local shops cos of the football and then the chibbings etc. Id had enough.

I actually felt embarresed when I took my bf up with me in august to see Glasgow properly. He actually preferred Edinburgh cos he didnt feel as threatened.

Ok! my previous post was based on the negative shit that happens in Glasgow. It was my personal viewpoint of how I view the City Centre at the weekends. This problem of violence is being played out across every major City and large town the length and breadth of these Isles every weekend and not just exclusive to Glasgow.
In my opinion Glasgow has changed dramaticaly in the last 15 years for the better in most respects. It's a sociological problem within certain parts of the community that allows or rather negates to set any boundaries for thier sons and heirs. And it's got nothing to do with class, status, employment or where you live. It pervades all sadly.
I wouldn't want to single out any particular place as to it being better or worse than here.
On a more positive note I see much of the good around here and don't want to live anywhere else, It is after all......... Glasgow :wink:
