Today saw the first South Side Festival in Queens Park.

We went along and had a good time - a couple of beers , food , fighting ( simulated ) and most importantly old Glasgow livereyed buses.

Blurrey crowd just after the procession:

Vinegar Tom: Great photo's. Any idea which clan society the group is from? They forgot to use their targes as they are lying in the background.

The group are called Clann according to the South Side Festival website.

They did manage to use at least one targe , with the one in question being pierced by maces , smashed by swords and eventually being destroyed by a battleaxe. Here it is after a "maceing" as they inspect the holes:

evening times

AROUND 8000 people turned out to celebrate the first Glasgow Southside Festival and they had a day to remember.
Revellers enjoyed treats ranging from live bands and fun fair rides to seeing some of Scotland's most famous battles.
Although hit by the rain, a brief sunny spell in mid-afternoon saw families flock to Queen's Park to take part in the fun.
As bands played in the Glasshouse, excited children were given the chance to ride in a cart pulled by two huge Shire horses.

I took to these fellows, and I loved the incongruity of them doing all this hip-hop dancing while trying to make progress up Victoria Road in front of two corporation buses and a fire engine.
