Only in the West of Scotland. I do like the idea on their forum about the marksmen.

Why not just have traffic lights that go RED, ORANGE, PURPLE?

I think people are allowing themselves to be led up the garden path by the journalist in question. The colour is not the issue. As the council spokesman says : "The council's traffic signal contractor has experienced problems with vandalism throughout the county and, as the green light is the lowest, this tends to be targeted the most."

The issue is one of vandalism not whether or not the lights are green. This shouldn't stop alcohol-soaked hacks regurgitating the story as such, though.
Jim Hacker: "Are you saying that winking at corruption is government policy?"
Sir Humphrey: "No, no, Minister. It could never be government policy. That is unthinkable. Only government practice."

^^^I would agree with this if it hadnt been for the story a few years ago about Moss chemists.

In the rest of the country, Moss chemst shops are green but in Larkhall they are white and blue.

"SUBWAY CHAIN 'PLANNING CHANGE OF COLOUR FOR LARKHALL'
IT IS not just the traffic lights which have fallen victim to sectarianism in Larkhall, shops too have had to change their colours.

Five years ago, Moss Pharmacy changed the corporate livery of its Larkhall shops from green and white to red, white and blue, for fear of customers staying away, or even vandalism attacks.

Now, there is speculation that a multinational sandwich chain is considering changing the colours of the livery of its new store in the town for a similar reason.

Subway, famous for its green and yellow livery, are rumoured to be considering changing colours to appease consumers. "

Because then the surrounding countries of the Inca tribe Quechua/aymara people would shout "FOUL" as all those colours are in their flag ..

:D

Well - all I can say is that the Quechua/aymara Flute Band would be welcomed into Larkhall with open arms.

I am part of a team who give out free toothpaste and brushes to kids in the West of Glasgow but am always astounded when the parents reject the free pack cos the toothbrush is blue or green !! Get a life you nitwits, I say  What is that about ? Do they say " I would rather let my weans teeth rot before letting them use that green/blue toothbrush?
What is the score ?

i live in larkhall and hate how everyone else in the world near enough talks about larkhall being biggoted, yeah about 90% of it is, but what about the ppl that live here that isnt, like me?

its not fair to tar them all wi the same brush,

notice how coatbridege doesnt get treated as bad in the media etc (apparently the opposite of here)

They are considering changing their green signs as it wasn't popular.

Given the symbolic nature of certain colours, i am always surprised that SPT chose orange for their subway in the 1970's.
