My post?

It's very appropriate if your 1.5V battery affects the meter. Basically it's a way of tuning your newly overpowered meter with predictable results.

Hi, I have seen that someone has an Olympus Om1n film camera and wanted a battery for it. I notice you have purchased one from where I am enquiring in London and wonder if you could let me know if it is ok as my daughter needs a new one for Uni urgently!

Tried eBay for alternates Groover baby?

I got two alternate batteries AND a charger for my Lumix for about half the cost of an original Panasonic battery on its own.

Buy cheap, buy twice. Also, make sure cheap battery won't mangle expensive camera.

I have two batteries for my EOS 300, bought seven years ago. Both have had heavy use and are still good for a whole day's use.

Try this lot >>
550D not listed but one of the other EOS type chargers and batteries might do.

Jessops sell Energiser batteries for most or all Canon cameras at about half of the rice of Canon ones. I have been sing these for many years and have found them to be a least as good as the Canon originals.
You can be lucky with Ebay, but there seems to be lots of fakes there, mainly Nicads in Lion packaging which will not only have only about quarter of the capacity, but could catch fire in the charger.
