Norfolk Court Demolition

Postby laidbacklad » Mon Jan 11, 2010 11:30 pm

Anyone know when Norfolk Court is being cleared and demolished? I see 54 and 66 are empty now but 5 and 17 still seem full and demolition is due by 2020, seems odd they started clearing then stop, anyone have any further information?

Hi laidbacklad; welcome to HG :)

No word on the street yet. We're waiting for the occupants to move out. Add six months on to that for stripping the buildings of recyclable stuff. I doubt we'll see it this year.

5 and 17 are being kept for the moment as dampness has caused 170 and 200 Sandiefield Road to take a higher priority. They will be emptied first. I'd imagine therefore that 54 and 66 Norfolk Court will be standing for a good while to come, as they will no doubt be demolished at the same time as the other two. Expect years.

passed norfolk court today and the window in the first 3 floors have all been removed and excavators were knocking away the walls on the ground floor. Also noticed that they were puting up scaffolding up the side of the building on the Norfolk street side. Maybe there doing the same thing here as they did at shawbridge st, taking away the side to give more room for the blowdown

well from what i could gather from my visit to the site(and the rude security guard) the blowdown will happen around late october early november this year and this is what the want to acheive
http://www.safedem.co.uk/index_files/SAFEDEM7_r3_c1.gif
they are talking about completely wrapping the block in geotex fabric to protect surrounding structures

oh and the final norfolk block is built to a completely different design(last one stell framed) and controlled demolition inc from the states are coming over the pond to knock it down!!!
