I though they had changed their minds about knocking them down, and that the plan was to refurbish. Also are they not too near surrounding buildings to demolish by explosion?.

I know that you're new to HG but please be careful with those apostrophes and do use capitals for proper nouns. We'll let you off with a caution...... this time;in future you may feel the full force of Sgt. Dexter.

My correction was more subtle than yours but the cavalry rode to his rescue and my post was disappeared.

I did have the mild suspicion that dimairt's post might, in some tenuous way, have been connected with the disappearance of yours, Dex. Call me paranoid,etc.... :)

Welcome (back) over Maximus :-)

Is there any chance (if other folk agree) of getting this thread mod-moved over to the Glasgow Development board? That's where all the demolition threads have traditionally been (with the strange exception of the Fountainwell job of last weekend) and it's a bit much for my wee head to keep track of...

Hi, I'm new to this forum. Came across this item on google and just thought I'd say that when I was born (1951) my parents lived in the tenements in Plean Street - not sure exacly which one but I can remember playing in the back court with friends called Lorna and Patricia when I was about three. We moved to Stenhousemuir - wonder what happened to them?

That huge block of flats is an eyesore but as you say, it will be difficult to blow them up without damaging the tenements - pity they didn't think of that before they built it!

There will not be a date for the blow down as sadly it is going to be a mechanical demolition.
Asbestos removal is ongoing at the site before the machines move in. The tenements should be safe :P
