Shopping centre approval sought

The investors claim public support for the development plans to double the size of Glasgow's Buchanan Galleries shopping centre have taken a step forward after developers applied for outline planning consent.

I must say I like the colours they're planning, very jolly. A big green carpark and a purple extension. Much nicer than the glum greys and bluff browns we're used to in Glasgow. Perhaps we could persuade the council to extend the notion? How about doing over the City Chambers like Archie's castle? Think about the tourism it'd generate! A mauve cathedral! A ginger Provands Lordship! The entirety of Buchanan street in Polynesian Turquoise! What japes we'll have!

Any recent development on this? It's horrific and seems to me to be far worse than anything Tesco are planning.

This will not only convert the bus station into a grim, dark, unsafe-looking place, it will also blot out the remaining bit of natural light that Queen St Station gets over the track after the end of the roof and I understand the steps of the Royal Concert Hall are also to be removed -- i.e. the most attractive feature of the entire complex.

Another Anderston Centre in the making is right, except the Anderston was a nicer building!

The engineers have been into the station at nights taking core samples and doing structural test. At least it will stop thw staff from getting wet. There are also plans to develop Queen Street as part of the galleries . Plans are for M&S to come into the station and develop the car park but at the moment its all just on paper.
Thank you. And why not.

i must be weird , it,s so called ..developements.. like this , and the godawful st,enoch,s centre that made me stop shopping in glasgow city centre year,s ago . traffic makes them a real pain to get to not to mention park , and when you do get there you are greeted by these bloody ugly nondescript bland building,s . honestly , if you had to describe these buildings to someone who had never seen them , what interesting, attractive, characterful , or interesting features could you choose to describe them ?

Precisely Luco - big noises are made about the 'street scape' in galleries like this the only difference being most streets arent closed up at 6pm week nights (8/9pm late night opening woo hoo!)

pure shite

It is. We should petition them. For the love of god, keep the steps. They can do almost whatever they like elsewhere if they keep the steps, imho.
