Someone on the South Side had a new piledriver for Christmas and it's been driving me mental ever since.
I'd like to find where the bugger is so I can stick his plums in it. That ought to make it quieter
Grrr.

Is it possibly from those new flats they are building next to the White Cart at the bottom of Deanston Drive. There is a massive crane on site at the moment

It's not during the night, just all day long. They had a piledriver a few months ago when they started building those flats and I couldn't hear it more than a couple of blocks away. I went past there the other day and there was a guy whacking rivets with a sledgehammer. Doesn't really explain it, though. It's loudest by Queen's Park and it doesn't explain why the noise appears to be bouncing off the houses on the Victoria Road side when you stand up by the flagpole. I thought it might be the new bus depot by Cathcart Road or something going on at Hampden. It was quite loud when I was walking along Eglinton Street by Cumberland Street.

Found it. Yes, it's a piledriver. It's on the Viridor waste recycling development on Polmadie Road.

In January? in Scotland?
I'm glad I'm not paying your utilities bills.

They were in my neck of the woods last night & one of my dogs is scared of fire works, he was up all night shaking like a jelly, not to worry he kept me up with him for company.

the joys of having half a dozen layers of insulation and decent windows, i only use the heater in the living room but it keeps my whole house roasty toasty. the draw back though is that when it comes on at night it gets a bit stuffy.
im about £20 a week on leccy, (is that a lot?) i dont have gas

Twenty quid a week on leccy? Only if I have the heating on for a hour or so in the evening and wear ski-gear at other times. I have a fairly large one-bed flat with single glazing. I'm looking at about forty-five a week at the moment.
Piledriver's quiet just now (1736). Usually he gives it laldy at about this time of day, like a drinky person just before last orders.
