Connect 2 Phases 1B and 1C cycle infrastructure works

Glasgow City Council will shortly be carrying out cycle infrastructure enhancements along the length of Elderslie Street from Berkeley Street to Argyle Street, and on North Terrace Lane at its junction with North Claremont Street. Streets adjoining Elderslie Street will be affected with alterations at their junctions with Elderslie Street.

Elderslie Street

The main changes which have been approved, following statutory consultation, are as follows:

· Introduction of a segregated two way cycle facility along the length of Elderslie Street from Berkeley Street to Argyle Street.

· Introduction of TOUCAN crossing facility near its junction with Dover Street.

· Resurfacing of sections of the footways along Elderslie Street.

· Localised resurfacing of sections of the carriageway.

· Resurfacing within the Junction of St Vincent Street/Elderslie Street.

· Upgrading of the traffic lights and introduction of TOUCAN crossing facilities within the junction of St Vincent Street/Elderslie Street.

· Resurfacing of the proposed cycle facility between St Vincent Street. and Argyle Street.

· Improvements to uncontrolled pedestrian crossing facilities along Elderslie Street.

· Introduction of a one way north bound from Argyle Street to St Vincent Street.



Dover Street

The main changes which have been approved, following statutory consultation, are as follows:

· Introduction of a one way west bound from Elderslie Street to Pembroke Street.

· Introduction of end on parking on the north side of Dover Street between Elderslie Street and Pembroke Street.

· Introduction of shared footway from Claremont Street to Elderslie Street.

North Claremont Street

The main changes which have been approved, following statutory consultation, are as follows:

· Introduction of a pedestrian priority table at its junction with North Terrace Lane.

· Minor changes to existing street furniture.

MacLay (Civil Engineering) Ltd, 38 Stirling Road, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, ML6 7JA. Tel 01236 753 664, have been appointed to undertake these works and intend to start on site week commencing 21 March 2011, the duration of the whole of the works being approximately 8 weeks.
