Just a wee reminder that Restoration starts a new eight part series tonight @ 9pm on BBC2. Tonights prog is dedicated to Scottish architecture. Portencross Castle, Knockando Wood Mill and the derelict Geogian Mansion the Hall of Clestrain.

And for those with digital TV tune into BBC4 right after the above programme @ 10pm for Restoration Nation a seven part documentary presented by Sheena McDonald.

Tellys good for once :D

I kept flicking between the two.

So I kinda watched a thing about swapping run down buildings and restoring a delapitated old wife.

Cool!

Nice one Turbo, I'd like to restore a dilapidated old wife. Wish I could find one going cheap....

Bugger. Missed it.

Still, a fun instalment of Big Brother. Car-crash telly at its best.

The item on restoration regarding the proposed motorway extension in Edinburgh right through Princes St Gardens and a section of the Royal Mile was fascinating and something I had never heard of before.

Of course they compared it to the M8 extension here in Glasgow, showing some footage of the destruction.

I only wish there had been protests as successful as the Edinburgh ones and we might not have to live with that monstrosity.

The stuff about the Edinburgh motorway was new to me too; would be interesting to see some plans of exactly where they had planned it to go.

The BBC 4 program afterwords was pretty interesting - it featured stained glass in Landsdowne Church, the Glen cinema in Paisley, some lovely shots of St Peters, and the Shack nightclub ! Quite a combination!

I have the whole thing on tape if anyone missed it...

Edinburgh motorway item was fascinating. Probably like many others I've been going there for work and play for many a year, but had never been aware of it.

One can only assume that the councillors thriught there moved through to Glasgow latterly.

Who else, operating even with a semblance of a 'right mind' could even have contemplated, let alone proposed, the idea of smashing a motorway through the Royal Mile :?:

Perhaps if I could get a copy of that, Nodrog, somehow...

Might be interesting.

I voted for Portencross Castle the other night, cause I couldn't vote for my beloved Trinity Church. Bandits!

I had mixed views, particuarly about the Orkney one... But they always make such good cases for these buildings it's so hard to decide which ONE gets the cash.
